Biographies

J. Lindsay Gordon, President

Lindsay Gordon is co-founder of the CH.I.L.D. Foundation and was transferred to Toronto to become HSBC's Chief Operating Officer in 1997. He returned to Vancouver to the Head Office in January 2004 with his appointment as President of HSBC Canada.

HSBC Bank Canada, the largest international bank in Canada and a wholly owned subsidiary of HSBC Holdings plc, is one of the world's largest financial services organizations.

Lindsay holds both a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) and a Masters of Business Administration degree (M.B.A.) from the University of British Columbia, and has extensive experience in banking and international finances.

Lindsay's family experience with Crohn's Disease, and his determination to find a cure for it, gives him a strong will to assist in building an accountable and viable CH.I.L.D. organization.

Lindsay and his wife, Elizabeth, have four children. Andrew, their youngest was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at age 5.

Mary Parsons, Treasurer

Mary Parsons is a co-founder and a director of the CH.I.L.D. Foundation. She is a former school teacher and administrative assistant, earning degrees from Notre Dame University and Simon Fraser University.

Mary is presently a director of two commercial development companies as well as being an accomplished commissioned artist. She has been married for 34 years and has three adult children, one of whom has Crohn's Disease, and one grandchild.



DIRECTORS

Maury Corday, Director

As President of Marco Investments Ltd., a real estate company with a retail portfolio in British Columbia and Alberta, Maury has been self employed in the automobile business and real estate development for the past 30 years.

He has been involved with CH.I.L.D. since its inception and has a son suffering from Crohn's Disease. He and his wife Doreen are actively involved in many charitable works and are key organizers of the annual Dave Babych fishing derby held at Salmon King Lodge for the past five years to benefit the CH. 7.


Scott A. MacPherson, Director

Scott has extensive knowledge of the bearing supply and power transmission business. He grew up in British Columbia, attended Milwaukee School of Engineering, Stanford Business School and the University of Toledo, and worked his way in the family business, BC Bearing Engineers in Vancouver, BC.

He then moved to the USA and became President & COO of US Bearing Corp., which now has, under his leadership, 22 branches throughout the USA, serving the mining, forestry and agricultural industries. He has held leadership positions in related industry associations such as the Presidency of the Bearing Specialists Association.

Scott is a pilot and is married with four children. His family home is in Vancouver, Washington, U.S.A

Tracy Redies, Director

Tracy Redies is based in New Jersey, currently Head of Global e-Delivery, Commercial Banking for the HSBC Group and is responsible for the global strategy, execution, targets and system delivery of Commercial Internet services for HSBC's 2.5 million commercial customers' world wide.

Prior to her entry into the Internet arena, Tracy had extensive experience as a Vice President, Personal Financial Services in Vancouver and Assistant Vice President Commercial Banking in Edmonton, Alberta. Tracy has been actively involved with the CH.I.L.D. Foundation for several years and she also sits on the Valuing Diversity Committee for HSBC USA.

Tracy has a Masters of Science in Business Administration from the University of British Columbia and also attended London Business School in London, England on a foreign exchange program. She also has a BA with a Double Major in Economics and Asian Studies from the University of Victoria and studied overseas at Kaio University in Japan, being fluent in Japanese.

Tracy is married with four young children.

MEDICAL ADVISORS

Dr. Alessio Fasano, Medical Advisor

Dr. Alessio Fasano is regarded as one of the foremost authorities worldwide on Celiac Disease, and his epidemiological studies in the United States have changed the preconception that Celiac Disease is a rare disorder.

An accomplished biomedical scientist and educator, Dr. Fasano is currently Professor of Pediatrics and Director, Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, and co-director of the Center for Celiac Research at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Dr. Fasano originally came to the University of Maryland Baltimore and to the School of Medicine in 1990 as Research Assistant Professor in the Center for Vaccine Development. He rose to the rank of Professor in six years.

In 1995 he organized the first international meeting on Celiac Disease in the United States. That same year, he was appointed a member of the Board of Directors of the Digestive Disease National Coalition, as the representative of the American Celiac Society.

Dr. Fasano is married with four children.

Dr. Allan Walker, Medical Advisor

Dr. Allan Walker is a Conrad Taff Professor of Nutrition and Pediatrics, Chairman, Division of Nutrition, Harvard Medical School. His primary responsibilities at the Massachusetts General Hospital involve overseeing the Mucosal Immunology and Developmental Gastroenterology Laboratories as part of the Combined Program in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Walker's research efforts include defining the passive and active protective properties of human breast milk with regard to the protection from disease during the newborn period.

Dr. Walker has been in contact with our research team at BC Children's Hospital for the past five years, following a visit to the Gastroenterology Division in 2000.

CHAIR
Grace McCarthy

Grace McCarthy served the Province of British Columbia as an elected member of the Legislative Assembly for over 22 years. As Deputy Premier of the Province of BC, she was instrumental in bringing the World's Fair to Vancouver and spearheaded the building of the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre.

She initiated Canada's first toll-free “Help Line” for abused children and successfully lobbied both the federal and provincial governments in Canada to broaden home ownership credit legislation to include women without the need of a male guarantor.

Her many honours include the Order of British Columbia, the Province's highest honour. She has received Honorary Doctor of Laws from Simon Fraser University, the University of British Columbia, Honorary Doctor of Technology from the BC Institute of Technology and is an Honorary Fellow, Royal Architectural Institute of Canada.

When her granddaughter was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, Grace co-founded the CH.I.L.D. Foundation with Lindsay Gordon and Mary Parsons in 1995 to raise funds for research for children suffering from Crohn's Disease, ulcerative colitis and liver disorders.

Married to Ray McCarthy, they have two children, three grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
